Deliver fresh specimens to the laboratory immediately after collection. Specimen containers (not the lid) need to be labeled with the patient’s full name and a second identifier. Specimens delivered after 4:30 pm or on weekends in which STAT evaluation is necessary are handled by the clinical pathology resident on call 847-5121 or Provider Access Service, 847-2700. The accompanying laboratory requisition should contain all pertinent clinical information.
