Test Code 8808 Uric Acid (Urine)
Purpose
Look for hyperuricosuria in patients with renal calculus formation. Identification of overexcretors re: risks of stone formation, identification of genetic defects, influence of overexcretion on therapy of gout. Uric acid nephrolithiasis occurs in primary gout or in secondary hyperuricemia (eg, malignant diseases).

Specimen Volume: Entire 24-Hour Collection
Collection Instructions:
1. For 24 Hour Urines: Refrigerate during collection
and follow instructions for “24 Hour Urine Collection”
under “Specimen Collection and Handling” within the
links menu on the left side of the screen.)
2. Label specimen with patient’s full name, date of birth,
date & time of collection (Both Start & End Times for
24-Hour Urines) and person collecting.
3. Refrigerate specimen during transport.
