Test Code 8463 Antibody Identification

Purpose

Detection of allo or autoantibodies directed against red blood cell antigens in the setting of pretransfusion testing. Identification of red cell antibodies which may be clinically significant during pregnancy or transfusion. Specimens drawn within six months after administration of Rh immune globulin may contain passively administered anti-D. The mother's Rh-negative specimen should be collected before Rh immune globulin is administered. Extremely low-titered antibodies may be too weak to identify.
