Purpose

Evaluation of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate kidney stone risk, and calculation of urinary supersaturation. Evaluation of bone diseases, including osteoporosis and osteomalacia.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine (Random or 24 hr)

Container/Tube: Sterile Plastic Container

Specimen Volume: 50 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 10 mL

 

Collection Instructions:

1. For 24 Hour Urines: Refrigerate during collection

     and follow instructions for “24 Hour Urine Collection”

     under “Specimen Collection and Handling” within the

     links menu on the left side of the screen.)

2. Label specimen with patient’s full name, date of birth,

    date & time of collection (Both Start & End Times for

    24-Hour Urines) and person collecting.

3. Refrigerate specimen during transport.
