Test Code 80750 Amylase (Urine)
Purpose
Work-up for abdominal pain, epigastric tenderness, nausea, and vomiting. An enzyme with molecular weight of 45 to 55 kilodaltons, urinary amylase is used in the differential diagnosis of pancreatitis. It is very useful in diagnosis of pseudocyst of the pancreas, where the urine amylase may remain elevated for weeks after the serum amylase has returned to normal, after a bout of acute pancreatitis.

Specimen Volume: 50 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 10 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. For 24 Hour Urines: Refrigerate during collection
and follow instructions for “24 Hour Urine Collection”
under “Specimen Collection and Handling” within the
links menu on the left side of the screen.)
2. Label specimen with patient’s full name, date of birth,
date & time of collection (Both Start & End Times for
24-Hour Urines) and person collecting.
3. Refrigerate specimen during transport.
